Head of School’s Welcome Message

On behalf of our school I would like to welcome you.

St Vincent’s VC Academy is a warm and welcoming school where our provision is based around developing the whole child. Through a broad and balanced curriculum, children are challenged, enthused and encouraged to explore their learning creatively, both within the classroom and through a wide range of extra-curricular activities. By developing their love of learning, we enable them to journey through life, continually reflecting and growing.

Expectations of children and staff are high as we strive to give every child the best learning and development journey possible.
Our ultimate goal is that every child will become a confident citizen: one who will make a positive contribution to society. Our ethos is built upon Christ’s message and is firmly embedded in everything we do:  to love one another; to show kindness to all; to nurture and to grow.

If you would like to arrange a visit to our school, please contact the school office.

A Journey in Love

During the course of the year your child has been taking part in regular Jigsaw lessons. This is a mindful approach to personal, social and health education (PSHE). The children have been learning about how we are all individual, celebrating our differences, identifying successes and goals for the future and how to live in a healthy life. Last half term the children focused on relationships, naming family members, friends and understanding how important relationships are in helping us feel loved and wanted.

This week we are looking at how we have changed both, emotionally and physically over the school year in our lives. Next week (week beginning Monday 15th July) in school we will be delivering the sex and relationship education (SRE) part of our PSHE curriculum.

The children will be following “A Journey in Love” in years Foundation Stage 2 to Year 4. In years 5 & 6, the children have already followed this programme earlier in the term in conjunction with the sex education sessions provided by the school nursing team.

In each year group, an aspect of love is explored and developed starting from Foundation Stage 2 to Year 6. The children are encouraged to marvel at the wonder and beauty of Gods creative love reflected in each person under the components: physical, intellectual, social, emotional and spiritual. The content is age appropriate and is taught with sensitivity, taking into account the children’s level of maturity in regard to the delivery of the lessons. As with all aspects of learning, children are naturally curious and many will have questions related to their lessons. Opportunities to discuss questions form part of the lessons and again, these are treated with care and understanding.

If you have any questions about the lessons, please come and see the class teacher who will happily show you the lesson and talk through it.

Humberside Police Lifestyle 2019

We are delighted to announce that registration for Humberside Police Lifestyle 2019 is now open!

For 30 years, tens of thousands of young people have registered for Lifestyle and taken on challenges that have made a huge difference to communities across Humberside. There are a host of fantastic prizes on offer for the most innovative and successful projects undertaken. These include: a week in South Africa, a trip to Disneyland Paris, UK adventure holidays, days out at Flamingo Land and Tockwith Racecourse and many more.
Last year we saw some incredibly innovative and inspiring activities. From using recycled plastic to make a buddy bench for a local school to raising money for a defibrillator for a local playing field, our Lifestylers were certainly busy and I really enjoyed hearing about each and every project.
Lifestyle allows young people the chance to showcase the difference they can make in their local communities, whilst building key skills such as team work, problem solving and communication and presentation skills. The enthusiasm and drive shown by all the teams taking part is truly inspiring.

If you are aged 10-18 and fancy making a difference in your community and potentially winning a fantastic prize register your team now on:
